Hulk Finds Better-For-You Halloween Candy

I just consumed 1 1/2 servings of Halloween candy this morning. Good thing it was an all-natural version!

I had The Green PolkaDot Box (like an online Costco for organic/natural food) on KUTV 2News This Morning to showcase some better-for-you options for Halloween candy.

I'm a firm believer that you can have your cake, and eat it, too - as long as your body will recognize the ingredients. That's why the Squishy Fishies from local company Sweet's stood no chance this morning. As I hopped around the Internet, researching bands to have on the show, I slammed 160 calories (6 honkin' pieces) of cherry-flavored chewiness.

These Swedish Fish imposters taste just as 'nummy, but come without corn syrup, GMO, preservatives and artificial flavors/colors. Tapioca syrup and cane sugar sweeten these puppies, so you don't have to worry about aspartame (like in Sweet N Low; some studies suggest it's a carcinogen) or other chemicals.

You don't have to cut out sweets, just be smart about them. Here are some candy-like items that won't make you feel so guilty.

Warning: Squishy Fishies can quickly go extinct.

Candy Tree's version of licorice is organic, and 141 calories for half the bag (and each one takes a while to chew).
Utah-based company Spry sells all-natural gum (and toothpaste!) sweetened with Xylitol, known to benefit both mouth and body.
